3 Top Tips on How to Use Your Website to Improve Your Business
A lot of people we talk to and work with don’t understand how to use their website well. They create a website, leave it there and expect magic to happen. This is why we have written this blog post to give you three tips on how to use your website to improve your business.
Top Tip 1 – Review your website regularly.
Put a note in your planner, an action on Asana or a reminder on your phone, whatever works best for you, to check in on your website regularly.
If your business runs in a consistent way, with little change in what you offer, you might want to set this reminder quarterly. If you have a lot of new things going on, are getting frequent comments on blogs, new testimonials and are often running time sensitive things such as offers and events then checking in monthly is a good idea.
Use this check-in time to make sure you have got up to date information and testimonials on your website. Ensure event dates and times are accurate and pricing on products is current.
Use this time to add any new blog posts or portfolio pieces or maybe a new case study.
By doing this, returning website visitors who are considering using your business will see that things are happening in the business which will give you the edge on your competitors whose websites are sitting there untouched.
Top Tip 2 – Make it easy for people to join your email list.
Email marketing still works and if you aren’t already building an email list I really recommend you do. We have people who have joined Ready Steady Websites® to create their website after joining our list and finding our weekly emails so useful they realised we were the right people to work with.
If you have a clear call to action on your homepage for a useful resource that will appeal to the right people and leads directly into what you do, then that’s a very effective way to start engaging with the right people on a regular basis and turn them into paying clients or customers.
Also, keep reviewing this. If you tweak what you offer or add in a new service or line of products you may find that you need to change your freebie or add a new one.

Top Tip 3 – Automate everything you can.
If after looking around your website someone decides they want to talk to you, having a lovely calendar link on there for them to book a call is going to make their life easy, your life easy and make you look organised and efficient. But make sure you keep an eye on your calendar to ensure you have a reasonable amount of call availability each month and that you’ve remembered to block out holidays or the school sports day so you don’t have to send that awkward email apologising and asking them to rearrange.
Make giving you money easy for your website visitor and you too. We take all our payments through our website so people don’t have to wait for invoices and payment details from us and can start the process of working with us whenever they’re ready, even at midnight in some cases. This makes business easy for all parties and once people decide to work with you when they’re on your website you don’t want to give them the opportunity to over think it and change their mind.
