How to Get My Website Finished
In our line of work we hear these words a lot, “I just need to get my website finished” or “I’ve finally finished my website”. But I’m sorry, I have bad news for you. Your website will never be finished.
There will definitely be times when you’re happy with your website and you should always feel proud to share it with people but if it’s going to do everything it should for your business on an ongoing business then you need to keep working on it.
You Don’t Have to Make Big Changes to Your Website
You don’t need to be doing lots to your website and making big changes, although you should be honest with yourself about when it might need a bigger overhaul – maybe a new design so it doesn’t feel dated or a complete rework of your copy to reflect a change in services or a bigger team. But on the whole it’s smaller, easier to manage changes that you should be doing on your website regularly to help it make a really good impression on your website visitors.
The Little Changes You Should be Making
The kinds of little changes I mean are things like:
Adding new testimonials regularly so that when people revisit your website they see that lots of people are saying nice things about you consistently.
Adding new portfolio items or case studies to show you have a good amount of work on at the moment.
Put products in a different order or featuring certain products on your website to reflect the season or an upcoming event.
Regularly adding a new blog post that’s interesting and useful to your potential customers and clients and has a title that they are likely to be searching for.
Refreshing photos to reflect a changing team or a different season if this is relevant to your work or products.
How to Almost Get Your Website Finished
If you plan well and make time to do the things above on a regular basis and just accept it’s part of what you need to do to market your business effectively then you will be as close to having your website finished as you can.
It will feel good and you will be proud of your website, especially when you see leads and sales coming in from it.
