I Don’t Get Any Leads Through my Website so is There Any Point Spending Money on It? (4 Problems to Address)

These are the common reasons why you don’t get any leads through your website:

1. Nobody goes to your website.
2. It’s not clear what your business offers on your website.
3. You aren’t asking anyone to do anything on your website.
4. Your website looks terrible and/or doesn’t work properly.

Now these are all pretty easy to solve in reality and some of them do require you to spend money on them and others don’t.

Problem 1: Nobody Goes to Your Website

Now to find out whether this is really the problem you need to look at your website analytics to see how many visitors it’s getting. If you aren’t using analytics at the moment it’s important that you do and Google Analytics is a good one to try. If you can see that there really is nobody hitting your website it’s very easy to change this without spending money.

  • Make sure you share your website with people whenever you’re networking.
  • Put the link in all your social bios.
  • Talk about your website on social posts.
  • Ask business friends to talk about your website to their audience or clients if they’re the right fit for your business.
  • Write guest blog posts for relevant websites and link back to your website.

If you already do all of these things and your website is genuinely good and doesn’t have any of the others problems I mentioned, then you can look at spending time and money on your SEO.

Problem 2: It’s not clear what your business offers on your website.

Now, if you aren’t sure whether you have this problem go and look at your website as if you are a potential client who is looking for what you do and be honest with yourself, are you immediately answering the questions they might have? Is it instantly clear what you offer?

If you’re struggling to do this yourself then ask a friend who you know will be honest to do it for you.

If this is indeed one of your problems then I recommend you start from scratch on planning out the pages on your website and creating copy for them. If once you’ve given the copy a go yourself and you’re not sure it’s quite hitting the mark then it’s now worth spending money on a copywriter. They are experts and getting across what you need to say in your voice in a way that your potential clients will understand it and won’t be able to resist getting in contact with you once they’ve read it.

Problem 3 – You aren’t asking anyone to do anything on your website.

Do you have clear call to actions on your website? Are you asking them to book a call? Fill out an enquiry form? Buy a product?

If you are is it clear? Is it on all the relevant pages? Is it on the homepage of the website?

Some people think it’s not worth putting call to action buttons on the homepage because they think the website visitor won’t want to click straight away but they’ll remember it’s there for when they are ready.

If you aren’t doing this then that’s why, even if your website is saying all the right things, it’s not bringing the leads to you. And this is very easy to sort out without spending money.

I once ran a workshop talking about these things and at the end one lady said she now realises whey nobody got in contact through her website because she didn’t even have contact details on there!! It’s seems crazy but when you’re so familiar with your website it’s sometimes hard to spot these obvious mistakes.

You also need to consider how you are nurturing your leads ones you have captured them through your website so they they don’t stay as leads but become paying clients. Having a good email marketing system and CRM and also creating ways of getting those people engaged with your business will help with this.

Problem 4 – Your website looks terrible and/or doesn’t work properly.

Now this is where money should be spent. If your website really isn’t reflecting you well by looking poorly designed or dated or because it breaks when people try to take action on it then it needs sorting out.

Not only will this be stopping you from getting leads through your website but it will also be damaging your reputation.

Getting a professional web company or freelancer involved to help you create the website that your business deserves is the best way to resolve this.

In summary, is there any point spending money on your website?

Yes.

The reason you aren’t getting leads from it will be because of a combination of the things I’ve mentioned above but a good website can be a lead generation machine that will repay your investment time and time again if you get it right.

When something doesn’t work you shouldn’t give up on it. You should do what you need to make it better and reap the rewards.

If you’ve now realised you need to start from scratch with your website and get a well designed website tailored to your business industry, then take a look at what we offer.

If you think that your website is ok but you need to be better at capturing leads through your call to actions and then nurturing those leads so that they turn into paying clients or customers, then our Connector system maybe just what you need to connect into your current website.
