Ready Steady Websites® is Giving Something Back to the Community
As local business owners we think it’s really nice to be able to give something back to the community. The nature of our business means that we can be flexible with our time and we can also allocate business spending in a way that we feel benefits the business and also others.
How We and Ready Steady Websites® are Giving Something Back to the Community
If you’ve been following us for a while you may be aware of our love of sport, predominantly football and it plays a big part in our lives. So, for a couple of years Ready Steady Websites® has been sponsoring a local grassroots football team. It’s our eldest son’s team. We are also both on the committee for the club and were part of the group of parents who resurrected the youth section of the sports club a few years ago with the view to making football accessible to all.
We have also both got involved with coaching as well (Chris much more than me) and it’s lovely to see the children having fun and improving in their play week on week. And funnily enough, we created the website for the club too.
Last year Ready Steady Websites® also started sponsoring the local school’s athletics team. There were only so many times we could receive the email sent to all parents at the school, pleading for help with sports kit costs before replying, even though athletics isn’t our own son’s sport.
The benefits to children (and adults!) from taking part in sport is massive and we have seen both our children grow in confidence, build new friendships and improve their skill level while maintaining high fitness levels and we want others to be able to have this opportunity as well, which is why helping to fund local sports as well giving our time to them is so important.
How Giving Something Back to the Community Can Benefit You Too
We do all of this to help the community but obviously there are benefits to us too, our business name gets seen by a lot of people but after reading Dr David Hamilton’s book recently, The Joy of Actually Giving a F🙂ck, we’ve realised that people who volunteer are happier and possibly look younger (we’ll let you be the judge of that) than people who don’t. It’s all to do with good, youthful chemicals being released in your body when you’re kind or when you see the positive impact of your volunteering. (Clearly I’m not a doctor. You should read the book!)
We would love to hear how you and your business are giving back to your local community. And if you’d like to stay in touch with what we are are doing you can subscribe to our blog and newsletter here.
